There are wedding venues that are beautiful. And then there are wedding venues that feel like they have been plucked straight from a dream. Water’s Edge at Ewen in the Cotswolds is firmly in the second category. Nestled along the banks of the River Ewen near Cirencester, this extraordinary venue combines the most beautiful natural surroundings with genuine Cotswold charm. Furthermore, as a setting for Water’s Edge at Ewen wedding photography, it is simply breathtaking from every angle and in every season.
Fiona and Tristan chose Water’s Edge at Ewen for its natural beauty inside and out. From the moment I arrived, I completely understood why. The lush greenery, the gentle river, the beautiful barn and the most stunning courtyard all create an atmosphere that feels wonderfully peaceful and completely magical. I was spoilt for choice with backdrops from start to finish. I absolutely loved every single minute of being there.
A Relaxed and Beautiful Wedding Morning
Fiona and her bridesmaids got ready in the beautiful bridal suite in the main building at Water’s Edge at Ewen. It was a wonderfully spacious and light-filled room, the perfect setting for a calm and relaxed wedding morning. The energy was happy, unhurried and full of quiet excitement, exactly how a wedding morning should feel.
Fiona looked absolutely radiant. She had chosen a sleek and elegant Suzanne Neville wedding dress with the most beautiful floral detail. Her stunning bouquet of green and white blooms that complemented her look perfectly. She was the most beautiful bride, and she glowed from the very first moment of the morning.

An Outdoor Ceremony by the River Ewen
The wedding ceremony took place outdoors by the River Ewen, and it was simply perfect. The setting is so tranquil and so utterly beautiful. You feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Furthermore, the sun was shining, and it was a gloriously warm summer day. It made the whole scene feel even more magical. An outdoor wedding ceremony in the Cotswolds simply does not get more beautiful than this.
The water’s edge provided the most extraordinary natural backdrop for the ceremony, with the lush green woodland surrounding them on all sides. It was intimate, romantic and completely stunning. Water’s Edge at Ewen wedding photography at its very finest.
Pimms in the Courtyard and a Stunning Wedding Breakfast
After the ceremony, the drinks reception began by the river before moving up to the beautiful courtyard outside the main barn. It was such a warm and glorious summer day that everybody was completely happy to mingle outside with a glass of Pimms in hand. The courtyard at Water’s Edge at Ewen is the most wonderful space for a summer drinks reception, and the whole scene felt wonderfully relaxed and joyful.
Everybody then moved inside to the main barn for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The tables looked absolutely stunning, dressed simply and elegantly with beautiful floral bud vases and candles. The simplicity of the styling suited the natural beauty of the venue perfectly. The speeches were a wonderful mix of heartfelt emotion and laughter, and the barn felt completely full of warmth and love throughout.

Portraits at Water’s Edge at Ewen
With so many beautiful locations to choose from, I was genuinely spoilt for choice when it came to Fiona and Tristan’s couple portraits. We began by the river in the lush green woodland, which provided the most beautiful and atmospheric backdrop. We then took in the waterside before heading up to the barn for a few more portraits with the beautiful Cotswold stone as a backdrop.
Fiona and Tristan were completely natural in front of the camera, and they absolutely nailed their portraits. Their connection and happiness shone through in every single frame. Furthermore, the soft summer light filtering through the trees by the river created the most extraordinary conditions for photography. These portraits are genuinely some of my favourites I have ever taken in the Cotswolds, and I am so thrilled with every single one of them.
A Ceilidh to Start the Evening Party
The evening celebrations at Water’s Edge at Ewen were brilliant from the very first moment. Fiona and Tristan chose a ceilidh to get the party started, a nod to Fiona’s Scottish heritage, and it was an absolutely wonderful choice. A ceilidh is a traditional Scottish dance performed at celebrations, and it brought an energy and joy to the evening that was completely infectious. Everybody joined in, nobody stopped smiling, and the photographs from the ceilidh are some of the most joyful and fun images of the whole day.
After the dancing, guests headed outside to the courtyard to enjoy the warm summer evening air. The space outside the barn at Water’s Edge at Ewen is simply perfect for long summer evenings, and the relaxed and happy atmosphere continued well into the night. It was a truly wonderful end to a truly wonderful day.

What Fiona and Tristan Had to Say
“We absolutely love our wedding photos from Suzy and highly recommend her! From the first time we spoke to her on the phone she’s been warm, friendly, and super helpful.
On the day itself, she arrived in plenty of time and managed capture some beautiful photos of the venue, as well as the girls getting ready. Suzy made sure to capture every shot we asked for. She has a lovely way of directing people in order to capture wonderful group photos – we were particularly impressed with the confetti shot!Suzy was also great at blending in to the background. A lot of our guests said they hadn’t noticed her but were surprised to see themselves captured in candid, natural shots. We were amazed at how quickly she was able to send us the edited photos. We’ve loved looking through our online gallery and sharing our wedding photos with friends and family. And now we can’t wait to see the prints!”
