If you’re searching for a wedding venue that blends history, romance, and breathtaking surroundings, Notley Abbey should be at the top of your list. This exclusive-use wedding venue, nestled in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside, offers the perfect backdrop for a fairytale wedding. From the honey-coloured stone country house to the sweeping tree-lined driveway, you will fall in love with this epic wedding venue at first sight. Here I will explain why I love this venue so much and show you just some of the many weddings that I have captured.
“Suzy is the best photographer you will find”
As soon as I saw Suzy’s portfolio, I knew she was the one, as every single one of her photos perfectly captures the love between each couple, which many photographers fail to do. From start to finish, she was incredibly well organised and very professional, which made us feel so comfortable behind the camera. I would recommend Suzy to everyone.

What is the capacity at Notley Abbey?
Notley Abbey is an exclusive-use wedding venue that becomes yours for the day and night. It’s licensed to host wedding ceremonies both inside and out, with a seated capacity of 164 guests, and 250 for an evening reception.
Can we get ready at Notley Abbey?
Absolutely. There’s a beautiful bridal suite and eight further bedrooms for family and friends. The bridal suite is beautifully spacious with lots of natural light. You will also have use of the cottage in the grounds, so you don’t need to worry about running into each other in the morning. All of the rooms are beautiful, and your photos will look amazing!
Where are the best spots at Notley Abbey for photos?
Now you are talking! I work at Notley Abbey a lot, so I know all of the best spots for your portraits. The front of the house is a must, as is the tree-lined driveway. We will then go for a wander around the grounds and take in the best sports. There is the beautiful walled garden at the back of the house, and my favourite doorway (all of my couples know exactly where I mean!) You relax and trust me, your pics will look amazing.
Can we have sparklers and fireworks at Notley Abbey?
Absolutely to both. Sparklers are great fun, and I highly recommend them. Be sure to get extra-long gold sparklers so they don’t burn out too quickly.
For fireworks, speak to the team, and they can put you in touch with one of their partners who can create a magical display for you. I will then capture some epic shots for you in the evening.
Is there catering on-site at Notley Abbey?
Yes, and the food is amazing! They have an extensive menu to choose from, so there is something to suit all tastes. I have worked in a lot of wedding venues, and trust me when I say, their food wins.
What if it rains?
Fortunately, Notley Abbey is gorgeous inside and out, so there will always be photo opportunities. It rarely rains all day, so when it stops, we will nip outside for your portraits. I am constantly checking the weather on your wedding day, so leave it to me. If it were to rain all day, let’s embrace it. We can have fun with some clear umbrellas.
Can we use confetti at Notley Abbey
Biodegradable confetti can be used at Notley Abbey, both indoors and outdoors. They ask for it to be light in colour. Top tip for confetti: get lots, it looks amazing in your wedding photos. Check out my confetti blog for more top tips.
