Notley Abbey Wedding Photography
Wedding Venue Inspiration, Buckinghamshire
There are wedding venues that are beautiful. And then there are wedding venues that take your breath away. Notley Abbey wedding photography is something I am genuinely passionate about. The honey-coloured stone country house, the sweeping tree-lined driveway, the walled garden and the medieval architecture — it is one of the most extraordinary wedding venues in the UK. Furthermore, it is one of my absolute favourite places to photograph a wedding.
I have photographed many weddings at Notley Abbey, and it never gets old. I know every corner of this estate — every beautiful doorway, every perfect pocket of light, every stunning backdrop the grounds have to offer. If you are getting married at Notley Abbey, you are in very safe hands. Together, we will create something truly magical.
“Suzy is the best photographer you will find”
As soon as I saw Suzy’s portfolio, I knew she was the one, as every single one of her photos perfectly captures the love between each couple, which many photographers fail to do. From start to finish, she was incredibly well organised and very professional, which made us feel so comfortable behind the camera. I would recommend Suzy to everyone.

Why Notley Abbey is One of Buckinghamshire’s Most Breathtaking Wedding Venues
Notley Abbey sits in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside, steeped in history and surrounded by the most beautiful grounds. Originally a medieval monastery, it combines centuries of history with timeless elegance and modern luxury. From the moment you turn into that iconic tree-lined driveway, you will fall completely in love. It is simply one of those venues that feels utterly special at first sight.
Furthermore, Notley Abbey is available for exclusive use, which means on your wedding day, the entire estate is yours alone. No other weddings, no outside guests, no interruptions. Just you, your people and one of the most beautiful estates in Buckinghamshire. As a result, every wedding here feels wonderfully intimate and deeply personal.

Exclusive Use for a Truly Intimate Notley Abbey Wedding
Notley Abbey’s exclusive use policy is one of the things I love most about it. The whole estate becomes yours for the day and night. You and your guests can enjoy complete privacy in the most beautiful surroundings.
Additionally, Notley Abbey offers stunning on-site accommodation for the couple and their guests. The luxurious bridal suite is the perfect space for morning preparations — beautifully spacious, full of natural light and ideal for gorgeous getting-ready photographs. Meanwhile, the cottage in the grounds means you and your partner can get ready separately without any risk of running into each other. Eight further beautiful guest rooms mean your closest family and friends can celebrate late into the evening and retreat to comfort and style.

Unparalleled Notley Abbey Wedding Photography Opportunities
As a Notley Abbey wedding photographer, I can honestly say this venue is a dream. Every corner of the estate offers something different and something beautiful. The long tree-lined driveway creates one of the most dramatic and romantic entrances in the whole of Buckinghamshire — it is particularly stunning in summer when the trees are in full leaf and in autumn when the colours turn golden.
The historic stone architecture and manicured gardens provide endless opportunities for timeless portraits. My favourite doorway on the estate — and all of my Notley Abbey couples know exactly which one I mean — creates the most beautiful, intimate framing for a couple portrait. Furthermore, the walled garden at the rear of the house is a particular highlight. Enclosed, peaceful and beautifully planted, it offers a wonderfully private and romantic setting for portraits at any time of year.
I know every inch of Notley Abbey and I know exactly where the light falls at every time of day. Trust me completely — your portraits will be stunning.

Breathtaking Ceremony and Reception Spaces
Notley Abbey offers a wonderful variety of spaces for both your ceremony and reception. Each one is unique, and each one photographs beautifully.
The Monk’s Refectory is a stunning medieval barn with exposed beams and extraordinary character. It works beautifully as a romantic wedding breakfast space or a larger wedding ceremony venue. The atmosphere inside is warm, dramatic and completely unlike anything else in Buckinghamshire.
The Abbot’s Hall is a more intimate and elegant space, perfect for smaller ceremonies or relaxed cocktail receptions. It has a wonderful sense of occasion without feeling overwhelming.
The Walled Garden is one of my absolute favourite spaces at Notley Abbey for summer weddings. The enclosed garden walls, the beautiful planting and the soft natural light create the most extraordinary backdrop for an outdoor ceremony or drinks reception. Furthermore, the floral backdrops here are simply stunning for wedding photography.

Notley Abbey has an in-house team of expert chefs, and I can tell you from experience — the food is exceptional. I have worked at a great many wedding venues across Buckinghamshire and the Cotswolds, and Notley Abbey’s catering genuinely stands out. From elegant wedding breakfasts to creative canapés and bespoke evening menus, every dish is beautifully considered.
Additionally, the dedicated wedding coordination team at Notley Abbey ensures a seamless and stress-free planning process. They are warm, professional and completely focused on making your day perfect. As a result, couples who marry here consistently tell me how supported and relaxed they felt throughout the whole process.

Notley Abbey is stunning both inside and out, so there will always be beautiful portrait opportunities whatever the weather. If it does rain all day, we will embrace it — clear umbrellas make for some wonderfully fun and atmospheric photographs.
Can we use confetti at Notley Abbey?
Yes — biodegradable confetti is welcome both indoors and outdoors at Notley Abbey. They ask that it be light in colour. My top tip?
