There are not many wedding venues where you can feel completely surrounded by the countryside whilst being in the heart of London. Morden Hall one of them. Situated within 125 acres of stunning parkland in South West London, this beautiful eighteenth-century Georgian country house is an extraordinary place to get married. Furthermore, it is available for exclusive hire, which makes every wedding here feel wonderfully personal and intimate.
This was my first time photographing a wedding at Morden Hall, and I fell completely in love with it. The country house is a thing of beauty. The gardens are spectacular. Above all, the variety of portrait locations is simply outstanding, and every corner of the grounds offers something different and something beautiful. Julia and Tom’s summer wedding here was an absolute joy to capture, and I hope you love their images as much as I do.
A Love Story Rooted in London
Julia and Tom met at law school, and their relationship grew quietly and steadily over the years. They got engaged on the day they received the keys to their London home, a moment that was already special, made even more so by the proposal. Furthermore, when it came to choosing a venue, Morden Hall spoke to them immediately. The Georgian architecture, the sweeping gardens and the sense of peaceful seclusion in the heart of the city made it feel completely right.
Getting Ready at Hotel du Vin, Wimbledon
Julia began her wedding morning at the Hotel du Vin in Wimbledon with her bridesmaids. It was a beautiful, relaxed morning full of laughter and quiet excitement. Julia looked absolutely stunning in her sleek and elegant Suzanne Neville gown. The floral lace detail was exquisite and perfectly suited her understated, sophisticated style.
A Heartfelt Ceremony at St Mary’s Church, Wimbledon
The wedding ceremony took place at St Mary’s Church in Wimbledon, a beautiful church full of character, charm and history. It was warm, personal and full of emotion. St Mary’s is a wonderful setting for a London church wedding, and it complemented the elegance of their Morden Hall reception perfectly.
A Drinks Reception in the Gardens
After the ceremony, guests climbed aboard a classic London Routemaster bus for the journey to Morden Hall. It was such a joyful and quintessentially London touch, and it set the most wonderful tone for the afternoon ahead.
It was a beautifully warm summer day, and the drinks reception took place in the stunning gardens. A saxophonist played as guests relaxed in the sunshine, the most perfect summer wedding drinks reception. Meanwhile, I took the wedding party into the gardens for some relaxed group photographs. The grounds at Morden Hall offer the most extraordinary variety of backdrops, and we made full use of every one of them.
The Wedding Breakfast in the Willow Room
Afterwards, everyone gathered in the Willow Room for the wedding breakfast. Kalm Kitchen served up a culinary feast that was honestly some of the most exceptional wedding food I have ever tasted. Furthermore, the speeches that followed were some of the funniest I have heard in years. The room erupted with laughter from start to finish. They were the kind of speeches that had everyone wiping their eyes for entirely different reasons at different moments. Brilliant.
Golden Hour Portraits in the Gardens of Morden Hall
As the evening light began to soften, I took Julia and Tom away for their golden hour portraits in the grounds. Morden Hall offers so many beautiful portrait locations that I was genuinely spoilt for choice.
One spot in particular held special meaning for Julia and Tom, the path leading back to the house from the bridge, with Morden Hall rising beautifully in the background. It was important to them, and it shows in the photographs. Additionally, the late evening sun gave us the most gorgeous golden light for their portraits. Golden hour at Morden Hall in summer is something truly special, and these images are amongst my absolute favourites.
As a London wedding photographer, finding a venue that offers this quality and variety of portrait locations within the city is genuinely rare. Morden Hall is exceptional.
An Epic Evening Party at Morden Hall
Julia and Tom’s first dance launched the evening party in the most joyful way. These two knew exactly how to celebrate, and the dance floor was electric all night. The evening party is always one of my favourite times to photograph. The energy, the joy and the spontaneity create some of the most wonderful images of the whole day. I stayed until the very end and loved every moment.

Suzy did an amazing job as our wedding photographer. She captured our day perfectly and we absolutely love all of the photos. Throughout the process Suzy was very responsive and organised so we felt that we were in safe hands in the run-up to the wedding. On the day, Suzy captured all of the photos we had asked for and was very professional. After the wedding Suzy delivered our sneak peek photos very quickly which was really lovely.
