Oxfordshire Wedding Venues – My top Picks

Welcome to my blog on my top picks of Oxfordshire wedding venues.  Oxfordshire has to be one of the most beautiful counties that this country has to offer.  When I think of Oxfordshire I think of the Cotswolds.  It’s gently rolling hills and areas of outstanding areas of natural beauty.  It’s quintessentially English market towns and honey coloured stone buildings.  Not to mention the beautiful historic buildings and barns, ideal for a picture perfect English wedding.  The centre of Oxford has an amazing collection of historic and cultural locations.  Many of which are steeped in history and make for the perfect wedding

I adore photographing weddings in this beautiful county.  Here I will share some of my favourite venues with you.   Plus I will tell you what I think are the best Oxfordshire wedding venues.  Hopefully you enjoy my blog and get lots of inspiration for planning your wedding in the beautiful part of the country

Cripps Barn – Bibury

I have a massive soft spot for this venue, I got married here myself!  Cripps barn lies just outside the village of Bibury, a picture perfect and very typically English cotswold village

Cripps barn is an 18th century stone barn with a capacity for up to 150 guests.  Up to 200 in the evening.  The barn is simply stunning and perfect for weddings in every season.  In winter months and during times of inclement weather there is ample space inside the barn to house your guests.  During summer months the beautiful gardens, with their stunning views over the countryside are a joy to behold.  All the food is cooked on their barbecues and rotisseries outside and the menu is fairly extensive

We got married at Cripps at Christmas and it was so perfect.  I am a huge Christmas fan so the roaring log fire and fairy lights galore were a dream come true for me.  The food was to die for and some of the best I have experienced at a wedding.   I have been to a lot of weddings!   Our guests were treated to Chicken liver parfait to start.  The most divine and buttery soft steak with bernaise sauce for main, and a treacle tart for pudding.  Everyone commented on how amazing the food was.  I have to say, the staff at Cripps were sensational.  They were always on hand to answer any questions.  Nothing was too much trouble for them!

I may be biased as this was my first choice of Oxfordshire wedding venues.  If you are looking for a barn wedding in the cotswolds then look no further than Cripps, or one of the companies other barns dotted around the country, you won’t be disappointed!

Aynhoe Park – Aynho

Originally built in the 17th century, Aynhoe park is an exclusive wedding venue in Aynho Oxfordshire.  The luxury setting prides itself as a unique and unusual country home and plays host to some of the most amazing weddings.  The house itself is licenced to hold civil ceremonies and partnerships but if you are looking for something more traditional, the baroque church of St Michael next door can bring a touch of 14th century grandeur to the occasion

Aynhoe pride themselves on providing a very personalised service to all their wedding clients, with no two weddings being the same.  You won’t see a wedding package brochure, every wedding is tailored to the clients taste

The ceremony and reception rooms at Aynhoe are a real mix of traditional English grandeur, in fitting with a Cotswold country house.  Don’t be suprised, however, by the modern and deliciously quirky features like a giraffe overlooking the room

A wedding at Aynhoe is a thing of beauty and you would not be disappointed by your choice of venue.  For sure one of the best Oxfordshire wedding venues.  For more information check out their website

Caswell House – Brize Norton

Caswell House is a beautiful historic 15th century manor house with stunning medieval barns set in the heart of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds

An exclusive use venue with beautiful and very typically cotswoldy (I know thats not a word) honey coloured stone walls and oak beams.  Set in 300 acres of beautiful Oxfordshire countryside you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to phot opportunities.  The grounds themselves have a ancient orchard, a secluded walled garden and a picturesque moat.  As a photographer, this venue is a dream to work at with endless opportunities and stunning backdrops

The food is divine and is provided by luxury caterers Indulgence.  They pride themselves on delivering beautifully presented food from local suppliers

If it is a barn wedding that you are looking for then Caswell house would have to be up there with the best of them.  As Oxfordshire wedding venues go it is a real winner.  Check out their website for more information

Bodleian Library – Oxford

If you are looking for somewhere a little different and with the wow factor then look no further than the Bodleian Library in the centre of Oxford.  The Bodleian holds a marriage license for two of the beautiful rooms on the old site, The Divinity Schools & Convocation House.  Completed in 1488, The Divinity school is the grandest room and has the most magnificient ceiling with a late gothic design

Convocation house was added in 1637 and has a more chapel like feel, ideal for civil ceremonies and partnerships.  The only downside to this venue is the time constraints, as they are in use for students at some points throughout the day.  Convocation house is available between 9am and 3pm.  Divinity school is available from 4pm until 1am.  Downside aside, this venue is simply stunning and would be a beautiful place to celebrate your special day

Right in the heart of Oxford, we would then be spoilt for choice on places to go for your couples portrait session, with stunning backdrops at every turn
