I was so pleased when my friend Katherine asked for an Ashridge family photography shoot last autumn. Not only is Katherine a very good friend of mine but her daughter Lily is one of my daughters best friends. It was an honour and a privilege to capture their precious family memories. Plus it was a joy to spend some quality time with my friends, whilst doing the job I love. They chose Ashridge for their autumn family shoot as they go there a lot as a family for days out. Ashridge is one of my favourite places for photographs all year round as it is full of beautiful backdrops and interesting features. Plus the kids love it as they can run around and jump off things!
Autumn is absolutely my favourite time of year. I just adore the beautiful colours all around and I love to get out with my camera and get leaf throwing! Katherine brought her sister Lizzie along too and you can really see how close they are as a family. I will be photographing Lizzie’s wedding next year and I cannot wait!
We started the shoot as I always do, nice and relaxed. We met outside the cafe and went for a walk around. I directed Lily over to some leaves and she was more than happy to get throwing, completely unaware of me and my camera. Kids are great in photos as they have no inhibitions and just go for it!
